A rich and earthy cluster of talismans in a shorter length necklace.

The long copper pendant was molded from the Cadiz Valley "ceremony boulder" in the Mojave Desert.  I took a mold of this white granite boulder far out on the bajada after holding a ceremony of stone and silence nearby.  On the right is a fine silver PMC amulet that was impressed in raw clay form on a stone in the Topock Maze, a mysterious geoglyph within spitting distance of 1-40, heavy industry and the Colorado River.  Despite the encroachment I found myself in stillness and deep time upon entering this site.

Other metal clay elements include a bronze amulet which was impressed with an antique Tibetan coin, a disc molded from Moroccan fossil coral, and a crushed bronze ring that holds the talismans.  With these are a fossil seal or walrus tooth and fossil ivory bead, both from St. Lawrence Island, Alaska.  The native Yupik gather these pieces from old village sites.  There is also a handmade glass charm, a vintage camel bone prayer bead from North Africa, an African cast brass ring, Yoruba granulated brass, Czech glass, and cast bronze beads.  All hang from attachments of hammered sterling, brass and bronze wire.  The sterling ring connecting the bronze ring to the necklace was hammered on desert rock.

The necklace is strung with unusual bronze-hued keshi pearls.  These pearls are created when the shellfish ejects the nucleus of the pearl but continues to form nacre, resulting in a very abstract, free form shape.  These have a remarkable look and feel.  The clasp is fine silver metal clay, impressed with a fossil crinoid prior to firing.

A great length for anyone, and very comfortable to wear!

CARE:  Rinse in cool water to clean and blot dry with a soft towel.  The metal clay pieces can be brightened with a silver polishing cloth; restore the matte surface with a dry kitchen scrubbing pad.

SIZE:  The strand of pearls is 20 1/2" long.  The talisman cluster hangs 5" below it when worn.

PRESENTATION:  This necklace will come to you giftwrapped in recycled and earth-friendly packaging.  See my shop policies below for details.
