:: New Spirit Beads! ::

I have several new sets of Spirit Beads that are going into my Etsy shop. Be sure to take a look! And more are on the way…I think we could all use a little mindfulness, tranquility and perspective these days.

:: Two End of The Year Beauties ::

Hello folks, and I hope you all have been enjoying your holiday season. I have been enjoying some quiet time and spending many days in the studio, as we have been having some extremely cold weather and our first real snows in several years. As we move into the New Year I wish you all the very best for a healthy and luminous one!

I have two new necklaces listed and a third ready for its photography, but for some reason the computer won’t let me create a link to the listings as it usually does, so I have to work around it. Here they are!

:: Earthen Pod Necklace :: Upcoming Shipping Interruption ::

I have one of my new polymer pieces (which in no way resembles polymer!) in the shop for you today. I feel this is a very successful piece, “perfect for what it is”, with that sense of complete integrity that I love seeing when it happens. Earth + Winter + Elemental.

Also, it is with much sadness that I have to share that my Dad passed away in his sleep this past weekend. He was quickly failing from Alzheimer’s but nevertheless his departure was a shock to us all. I have spent much of this week on the phone with various relatives as funeral arrangements have been made, and I will be flying out to Chattanooga, his home of many years, next weekend. Because of this, I will not be able to ship orders between December 6-9, but will resume on Monday the 10th. I just wanted to let you know because I don’t want to leave anyone in the lurch during the Christmas season.

More work will come as I soon as I can do it!

Blessings,

Dawn

:: Baja Shellbed Fossil :: Shipping Update ::

Also, an update on my shipping policy: in the interest of cutting costs in order to make my talismans more affordable to you, I will no longer be shipping items with full insurance. This has gotten very expensive, and in all the hundreds of boxes I’ve sent through the Postal system, I have never lost a package. The only one that was lost was being shipped to Costa Rica and disappeared after it left the country. So from here forward I will be shipping via Priority Mail, in the same boxes, and it will still have a tracking number for you.

If you would like to have an item insured, please let me know and I’ll invoice you separately for shipping.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

:: New Pricing Policy: Please Read! ::

Hello everyone, I’m back from the weekend’s show. Several pieces found homes but I definitely prefer selling online!

Anyway, starting today you'll notice a big change here: REDUCED PRICING. I struggle and even lose sleep over my prices...I will be the first to admit that I'm an artist, but most definitely not a salesperson or business person! So fair pricing has always been a major challenge for me. While I would like to make a living at what I do (I don’t…not even close), I want people to be able to afford my work and very much want these talismans, which are my children, to get out there to their adoptive parents. They are no use to anyone sitting at home in a bin! I make these pieces as a way to send blessing energy out into the world, and so folks can have something they can wear that will connect them to the earth. I started out trying to make everything very affordable but when I got into more rare and expensive components the prices had to go up, as well as keep up with inflation. Then there are all the fees involved with selling online, I have to add in shipping costs, and so on and so on. If I could afford to, I would give everything away!

The vast majority of profits from my sales go into new supplies, and towards travel to the desert places that fuel my work. Back in 2014 I was able to invest in a nice Subaru that gets me everywhere! The remainder goes into household use and some charity. The major charity I've contributed to in recent years is the Zuni Pueblo Kiva Restoration Project. I contributed $700 towards their Corn Kiva reconstruction and intend to keep on giving as I am able. (If you would like to learn more about this wonderful cause, please go to the Crow Canyon Archaeological Center website.)

But, after much soul-searching I've decided I need to lower my prices across the board. If I can’t afford my own work—and I can’t—then you probably can’t either. That isn’t right. So the current listings have some drastic cuts, and new items that are listed will also have more modest prices than you’ve been seeing lately. I'm not calling it a sale because these are the permanent prices from here forward. I am going to find ways to cut unnecessary corners in things like the photo, editing and listing process to help save time and money but will NOT cut any corners in the quality of the work, rest assured. So, if a piece has been calling to you, I hope you will be able to afford it!

Thank every one of you who has purchased my work in the past or has written me with kind words of support. You all mean so much to me! And you keep it all going. Here’s something you may not be aware of: if you’re reading this you’re probably a repeat customer. The truth is, virtually all of my customers are repeat buyers! That is amazing and very humbling to me: I am honored, and thank you deeply.

If you have any comments or feedback about this I would love to hear your thoughts!

Blessings, and have a lovely Thanksgiving!

:: Placitas Holiday Sale ::

A quick heads-up: I will be showing at the Placitas Holiday Sale this year! It’s been many years since I have done a show, preferring to focus on online sales instead. This year I thought I’d mix things up! If you are in northern New Mexico next weekend, come see me at the Winery in the historic village of Placitas, November 17 & 18, 10-5 Saturday and 10-4:30 Sunday. I’ll have a little table there.

Please note that both this shop and my website shop will be closed during the show. So if you've had your eye on something, you might not want to wait as it might be gone after the show.

Meanwhile I’ve been very busy with this and that, polymer clay work in particular. This is a really rich and wonderful medium, but I’m sad to say I’ve neglected it since taking up metal clay and I’ve had the nudge from the universe to get back into it lately. I forgot what a fantastic material it is, it can look like virtually anything and I already have some new elements that are very convincing replications of raku ceramics. I am seeing new artifacts on the horizon…

I may list some new pieces in this or my Etsy shop over the next few days, so stay tuned!

Blessings,

Dawn

:: Sun Temple and Sun's Path Redux ::

I have this beautiful new handwoven cairn necklace for you today, an elemental piece straight from the center of the desert Dreaming. Also, you’ll see that I’ve relisted the Sun’s Path talisman necklace with a newly designed cord. The original with picture jasper heishe just didn’t work and so I lightened it with some charming and very rich little Czech glass spacers, trading the heishe out for picture jasper rondelles.

In addition, I’ve relisted the ceremonial forked wand, a truly lovely autumn piece. This light, feminine prayer wand is made with handmade pipestone beads and deep golden Baltic amber beads, all on a stick of juniper from my own land. The wood is so softly finished it feels like silk.
